Our range of heritage passage sets are the result of defining a level of quality that sets a standard for value and authenticity. These stately turned wood passage sets on brass collars and roses are fitted in the traditional way, grub-screwed onto threaded spindles. Maintained with regular waxing, they will improve over the years. The success of our original teak passage sets and demand for this sort of quality led us to develop this range further in selected ebony and rosewood. Ebony and rosewood grow throughout South Eastern India and Sri Lanka. They are rare and exotic woods that must only be used where and when appreciated. This ebony tends to have a lighter character and show more grain than the more rare (and endangered) African ebony.

We do not expect to sell great quantities, nor do we wish to. Supply is limited and the quality of the wood we seek is not always available. If you are seeking something more than an ordinary door knob for your restoration project these passage sets can’t be ignored.

Ebony knob sets with an aged brass finish to the collar and backplates were chosen for the refit of the heritage renovation of the Soul Patterson building on Pitt Street Mall. By ageing the cylinders for the required security needed with Jacksons locks, the continuity was achieved. All round, a successful result.

For the first stage of the Milton Park estate development where a Georgian rural theme was called for, rosewood sets were chosen. We supplied all the accessories for the doors and windows. Again the lightly aged finish was applied to all the brass hardware.

For a smaller but special project in Mosman, an arts and crafts style home, we satin chromed the backlpates and with the SK105 ebony knob sets the look was stylishly clean and modern.

Indian ebony and rosewood passage sets are supplied raw, polished and waxed. Teak passage sets are supplied stained and shellaced. Backplates shown are interchangeable and may be aged. Contact us for details on lock options and latching systems.

A matching cabinet knob for the timber passage sets is available, see Wooden Knobs.
See Architectural Locks for lock and latch solutions.
See also Brionne Architectural for alternate classic door handles.
